Quasimodo

“His cathedral was enough for him. It was peopled with marble figures of kings, saints and bishops who at least did not laugh in his face and looked at him with only tranquility and benevolence”. –Victor Hugo

“Spira, spera”. (Breathe, hope) –Victor Hugo

Victor Hugo’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame gave us the ugly but gentle Quasimodo, whose perch in the towers of that cathedral gave him a view of all of mankind’s greatness and folly. Though shunned for his grotesque appearance, he reached out to all the people of Paris with the peal of the great bells of Notre Dame, a mighty orchestra of cast bronze high over the city.

 Worm gear bell crown.
