Dr.Theresa Cheng has been announced as one of Newsworthy’s Top 101 Outstanding Professionals of 2017. Professionals selected for such an honor have been determined by factors such as lifetime and career accomplishments, prominence in their respective fields, and commitment to excellence.
A neurosurgeon with over 30 years in her private practice, Dr. Cheng has served the medical community with excellence and passion. Dr. Cheng received her Ph.D from Medical College of Wisconsin in 1987, and received her M.D two years later from her alma mater. From 1995 until 2002, Dr. Cheng served as Partner to the Department Chair of Neurosurgery at Luther Midelfort Mayo Health System. Dr. Cheng then founded and served at the Department of Neurology at Affinity Health Systems until she stepped down in 2009. In 2006, she began an endowment for medical missionaries in neurosurgery and in 2007 she helped to develop a new neurosurgical program at Affinity Health System. This program would be rated number one in spine surgery by Health Grades for 2007 and 2008.Presently, Dr. Cheng is the Chairperson of the Department and Director of Medical Operations and a local hospital and is affiliated with Mercy Medical Center of Oshkosh.
